A Body for Every Body →
Performance
Originally meant to be a fashion garment, A Body for Every Body soon became a performance. My garment consisted of the act of painting my body in order to draw attention to body neutrality and self acceptance. Body Neutrality (BN) is a concept born out of people's desire to feel more self-accepting.
Visualising the body as a social and topographic map is the main focus of this performance. My raw materials are my insecurities and the canvas is my body. As the performer, I paint circles over the places where I feel the most insecure about, inevitably making me question their origin.
As a topographic map, this performance aims to explore a birds eye view of our self-doubts and create ground for conversation about their origin - looking into their emergence and asking myself if they truly belong to me or to some idea adapted by my generation.
As a result, I aim to separate the body from the body image. I intend to inspire others to look into this inner conversation.
